Invisalign Dental Aligners

Straightening teeth at Wickham Dental Practice near Fareham

Although most people think of traditional 'train track' braces when they need to have the alignment of their teeth corrected, increasingly, people, and especially adults, are turning to the modern and more discreet orthodontics on offer; one of the most popular being Invisalign 'invisible' braces.  These new braces are not only highly effective but are incredibly discreet as well and are difficult to detect when being worn.

The Invisalign braces differ from traditional braces as they are made from a medical grade plastic and are designed to fit directly over the existing teeth. Several sets of the braces are made, each acting to move the teeth just a little more towards their desired position. When one brace has moved the teeth as it was designed to do, it is then replaced by the next which moves them a little more and so on, until the teeth are in their correct position.

Apart from the discretion factor of these braces, there are other advantages to them too. The main ones being that the braces are designed to be removed when eating. This means that there need be no restrictions on foods that you can eat and it also prevents food becoming stuck in the braces which often results in tooth decay. It should be noted that before replacing the braces, your teeth should be cleaned. This also means that there is no need to limit your social life because you are wearing braces. They can also be removed for events such as interviews etc if it helps to give you confidence though it should be borne in mind that the more they are removed, the slower the correction will be.

The treatment time will vary depending on the severity of the misalignment but will generally take between 12 and 18 months to work.

Each brace is designed especially for you and are made from computer models to ensure an exact and comfortable fit.
